Mr. Cox was raised in Columbus, Mississippi where he is the son of a career high school band director. At an early age he followed his father to band competitions and halftime performances. He graduated from SD Lee High School in Columbus and attended Delta State University. Mr. Cox completed his music degree at Mississippi State University. While at MSU, he played trumpet for the Famous Maroon Marching Band. He also spent one grueling summer as a member of the Memphis Blues Drum and Bugle Corp. Before coming to DeSoto Central, he directed several championship band programs in the state of Mississippi. In addition to his duties at Desoto Central, he serves as a consultant to marching band programs at the collegiate level. Mr. Cox lives in Hernando, MS and has two children, Gowen & Molly. He has been with the DeSoto Central High School band since its inception.
